Alma Hoxhaj

PhD Candidate

Alma Hoxhaj is a PhD candidate at the Department of Radiology and Nuclear Medicine at Radboud University Medical Center. She is a team member of the Breast Imaging Group (BIG) and a co-associate of the AXTI lab. Additionally, she is a research associate at the Netherlands Cancer Institute.

She obtained her Medical Doctor degree from the university of Siena, in Italy, in March 2019. In January 2020, she started her PhD under the supervision of Ritse Mann and Ioannis Sechopoulos. Her research focuses on various imaging techniques for breast cancer screening, diagnosis, and treatment planning. A significant aspect of her PhD involves assessing the efficacy of MRI in breast cancer surveillance for women with higher-than-average risk. Moreover, she is involved in the clinical evaluation of Contrast-Enhanced Breast CT (CEBCT), an innovative 3D imaging technique, for the diagnosis and pre-operative staging of breast cancer, as well as in monitoring treatment responses.
