Tianyu Zhang
Tianyu Zhang was born and raised in China. After graduating from South China University of Technology as a graduate student in 2019, he began to study for a doctorate at Maastricht University in the Netherlands. Tianyu Zhang is currently a researcher in the Breast Imaging Group (BIG) at the Netherlands Cancer Institute and at Radboudumc. His research focuses on medical image analysis and natural language processing, with a particular emphasis on multimodal AI model development and its integration into clinical workflows.
His current projects involve developing deep learning methods for predicting breast cancer subtypes using multimodal data, processing unstructured electronic health records to build NLP-based decision support tools, and advancing imaging-based approaches such as synthesizing missing MRI sequences, generating DCE-MRI from non-enhanced MRI scans, predicting breast cancer response to therapy, and developing prognostic models for patient outcomes, among others.
In early 2023, Tianyu participated in the ODELIA and SAFE-MRI projects as a postdoctoral researcher. He contributes to several Horizon Europe projects, supervises PhD candidates on a daily basis, and actively promotes interdisciplinary and international research collaborations.
